Namesake Stories ("Namesake", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of children and families who use our service. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

When you use the Namesake Stories Alexa skill or mobile app, we may collect:

Child profile details you provide (e.g. name, age, favourite characters) — used solely to personalise stories.
Account information (e.g. email address) when you create a Namesake account.
When you request preview access, your email address, chosen device, referral answer, IP address, and an approximate city and country inferred from that IP. We use this to manage the preview programme and prevent abuse.
Voice interactions with the Alexa skill, processed by Amazon's Alexa platform in accordance with Amazon's privacy policy.
Usage data (e.g. which stories were played) to improve the service.
Character illustrations. When you add a child or a character (a family member, a pet, a toy or a story villain) and choose or create an illustrated avatar, we store that avatar. If you use the character-expression feature, we also store a sheet of illustrated expressions of that character, generated from the avatar.

We do not sell personal information to third parties.

2. Children's Privacy

Namesake Stories is designed for use by parents and caregivers on behalf of children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Child profile data is entered by a parent or guardian and is used only to generate personalised story content.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child without parental consent, please contact us at hello@trynamesake.com and we will delete it promptly.

3. How We Use Your Information

To generate and deliver personalised bedtime stories.
To create illustrated expression sheets of your characters, used only inside your own app (for example on the screen you see while a story is being written).
To operate, maintain, and improve the Namesake service.
To send you service-related communications (e.g. account updates).
To contact you about the Namesake preview programme when you ask to join it.
To comply with legal obligations.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. Story audio, covers, avatars and character expression sheets are stored in Supabase cloud storage, reachable only through long, unguessable web addresses. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, though no system is completely secure.

5. Third-Party Services

Namesake Stories uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

Amazon Alexa — voice interaction platform
Google Firebase — authentication and data storage
Supabase — audio file storage
AI providers — for story, audio and image generation (data is not used for third-party model training). To make covers, avatars and character expression sheets, the illustrated avatar image you chose (which may have been created from a photo you provided) and the character's name and short description are sent to an AI image provider.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Deleting your account in the app permanently deletes your stories, covers, avatars, character expression sheets and related usage records from our systems. 7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
